R1200 GS won't start!

My FL R1200GS 2008 does not want to start
I visited the BMW service mechanics changed battery to new and after 200km same thing happened
It is now in service again
When you try to to swich on it just clicks no revs...
It seems that this is not a battery maybe electronic module...
In my friends X5 2007 computer did continuing tests which exaust battery over the night.
Who can advice me please?

just before the seconds ago
tey said that after towing 15km it starts again every time
so this is not a battery 4sure computer shows no faults...

Have you tried starting with clutch held in? Sometimes problem with gear position indicator can make it think it's in gear so won't start...

Take it back to the dealer and get them to fix the darn thing!!! - It is brand new afterall!

Clicks but no revs sounds like bad starter motor but strange its happened before and been temporarily fixed with a new battery.

Take it back and threaten to reject it

If it's EWS failure, I don't think pressing the starter button has any effect. Also, doesn't it say EWS on the display?

Sounds like a simple flat battery to me. If it's flattened a second one, that might suggest that the problem is something draining the battery when the bike's switched off.

If it's the Ring Antenna you'll get a readout on the dash saying 'EWS!'. And if you press the starter button there will be absolutely nothing.

However, the EWS fault is so prevalent on 08 bikes make sure your dealer checks this as well. In the UK BMW has done a recall on this item with an upgrade.

I've not heard of any failures of the new upgrade.......yet!!

Yeah it sounds like something is remaining live after the ignition is switched off thus flattening the battery

Try taking the battery off and charging it then reinstall it, if it again fires up this will be the evidence you need, if not then its either a second dud battery or an electrical gremlin like those already mentioned

Could be as simple as a loose or corroded starter motor terminal, causing a high resistance contact and draining the battery when attempting to start. There aren't that many Amps in those tiny little cells they fit nowadays.

Then again, it could be a CANBUS fault with the charging circuit but BMW could reload the firmware and it should be fine ?

After two battery changes, my Tomtom installation received a switch to power on/off the source. The converter have previously drained continously the batteries, without the switch. I's an idea ... if you have a GPS.
