Bastarts!
The brake warning light was on and the servo was not activating therefore braking was 'hard' and needed considerably more effort to stop the beast.
On the 1st visit to BMW they found no fault in the brakes but did suggest 'a weak battery'.
I park the bike up each month when at work but use a Hein Gerike battery Doofer to maintain the battery which is also keeping the alarm alive.
It starts without issue when I get home so I never considered this as relevant.
But one can never be sure of Battery Pixies though, can one?.
The problem cleared and was fine until I took a run up to Knockhill for this years BSB.
The Servo failed just as the Polis were waving me into parking. My Cat-like Rapier Reflexes saved me from copping a cop on that occasion.
I found that switching the ignition off then re-starting cleared the fault.
Last time the fault happened was a month ago on the M6 (Saff) but this time the fault stayed and would not clear.
I booked the bike in to BMW Astle, Grimsby for service and asked that they have a look at the brake issue at the same time.
In the meantime I did a few checks for myself. I found the front brake would not activate the servo but if I pushed the rear brake it activated the servo but it would not stop when released. ????
Lo and behold by the time it was 'service day' the fault had cleared as if by magic. So no fault present for the mechanics to work on. Which was/is a bugger.
Long story shortened:
They found loads of error codes in the ECM and cleared them all.
The mechanic was not sure but he suggested that if the memory is full then the brake fault may be evident.
Since the service I have had no issue with the bike.
I only have issue with the Dammed Scare Mongers on UKGSER for giving me a Heart Murmur!!! when they talk of US$2000 brake modules. Ya Phannies!!!!
In addition ASTLE BMW have my vote as a good dealer service.
They got my stupid Odometer changed from that bloody useless Kilometer Mumbo Jumbo that those Foriegners use to Proper Miles.
I can now work out my tank range on-the-run without developing an ulcer with my mental arithmetic.
I was getting about 220-235 miles per tank one up and boxes on and an 'indicated' 85-90 MPH average m/way and A roads.
See yous
