Hello All, first time on this site but third GS.

Had my new GS 10 min when I had almost total brake failure. Warnings only appeared after the failure! Dealers have managed to get new ABS unit direct from Siemens but now the CPU on the bike will not code to the new ABS unit. Is there anybody out there who has had a similar problem and do you know what the fix was?

Dealers are getting passed from BMW GB to Siemens with no real solution. I am desperate to get on the roads and enjoy the bike.

:yikes That's a bit scarey.....lucky you didn't fall off the end of the island :D

Yeah Gecko, but max speed's 30mph & there aren't many places you can do it safely. You should be able to stop fast enough in Guernsey by shoving your boot against the tyre.........;)

Sadly the limit was 25mph so even less cred there. Still 25mph is better than 0mph at the moment.

if you've had it 10 min (?) then just ask for a new one - its not of merchantable quality.
start quoting the sales of goods act

or ask for a refund

i'd be slighlty 'disgruntled' at that !

Exactly what i was trhinking.......at the very least they should be giving youa long term loaner while they sort it out!

The Dealers have been pretty good so far. Luckily they had another GS in as a demo and I have been given that for now. I am holding out for a quick fix but just need to get the guys at BMW to talk to each other.

The bike has been sorted! When they released the bikes they did not pre send any dealers the upgrade needed for their diagnostic machines. This has been rushed to GSY and now the CPU and the new units have “talked” to each other. Service department here in GSY have been v.good at keeping me informed and making sure that I still had a bike to use

If any diagnostic problems are encountered make sure the dealer has the upgrade.

Jacksons

Your the first person I have heard of say a good thing about the dealer on GSY. I found them of no help what so every last year when on the rock. I hope they continue to be of service

Hello Chris

Up until this incident I would have completely agreed with you. I had some fairly problematic dealings with them in the past right down to having to get area managers involved to get a new bike (1150GS), but they seem to be turning over a new leaf. Time will tell. Let me know if you come back this way… Not the best place to ride though, but perfect for running in a bike. (France is just down the road, which is a big, plus for us)
