Been away for weekend and on way home noticed my clutch seems to be slipping on hard accelerations. Quite dangerous when over taking! My GS has just clicked over 10,000 miles surely the clutch isn't needing replacement. Checked fluid all seems fine.

Anyone any ideas or suggestions?

Probably not worn unless your a courier in London! if it's slipping at 10K more likely oil contamination, When you say its only done 10K is it still under warranty, if so recommend getting your dealer to check it out first.

i bought it just over a year ago and it only has 3k on the clock, 2007 plate so no longer in warranty period. Took it down to the alps last year and lots of weekends away but nothing more than normal riding so cannot understand why its slipping!

Have a chat with your dealer and see if there is any goodwill to be had, you may get lucky.

mine got 65k on it and is fine.

oil on it.

gearbox mainshaft oil seal or pushrod seal.

have a look under the engine at the join between engine and gearbox and see if there is an oil stain.

My 2008 GSA does it too, 12,000 miles only.

I suspect I may have some slight oil contamination however my BWM dealer says if they strip it and it is due to some other fault, I will have to pay £900, hence I am living with it for now.

If it gets worse I'll do the repairs myself.

Apologies if you already checked, but make sure that the hand guard isn't fouling the clutch lever - this happened to me once, with the same symptoms.

If the fluids are ok and the clutch lever is not touching the hand guard then like said check with the main dealer, if they give you no joy I just wrote a how too on changing a clutch how too change a clutch

If its the oil seal then you need to strip it anyways, if you are reasonably confident with a few spanners and a camera then you will be fine at doing it, it is just a big mechano kit.
Get yourself the reprom disc off ebay it explaines mostly everything you need to know.

Clutch Sorted

Cheers for everyones responses to my query. No evidence of oil leaks but the clutch lever was fowling on the hand guard. Took bike out for a test ride and bobs your uncle.

Total satisfaction. Thanks to everyone for the ideas and help.....

At what revs does it start ? the reason i ask is I have noticed the same, I think around 6k rpm
