R1200GS Hexhead Maintenance...

Hi,

After a few diversions I've come back into the boxer fold with a 2010 R1200GS.

I intend to do as much of my own maintenance as possible, and being new to this forum could somebody please point me to a good source of "how to's" and handbooks?

Get yourself a GS911 for diagnosis and resetting the service light

As well as the printed manual, Haynes do an online manual which has much better (and colour) photographs and you can enlarge them on your screen. All for a one-off subscription. Good value at £33 for the online and print manual from Haynes.

The official BMW Reprom disk is worth having.

When I rebuilt my Hexhead GSA gearbox it was invaluable for the finer details like shaft lengths and tolerances etc.

I don’t live close to a dealer so had to learn to do my own maintenance. I have 3 of his dvds for different bikes. He also gives the option to download his dvd. Jim does a great job of detailed explanation. He will also responds quickly to emails if you have a specific question. There are lots of YouTube videos but anyone can post a video.
