R1200GS LC low seat, any good?

My mate has just got a GS, 2013 LC, he’s not short but seems to not be able to flat foot it at all standstill I think he’s 5.9, about the same as me & I can flat foot mine.
So is the low seat any good? How much does it drop it & does it severely reduce comfort levels?

IIRC it drops the seat height by 30mm. I had 3 lowered GS' all with the low seat and wouldn't say it was uncomfortable as I could normally ride for around 3 hrs before I needed a break, but can't remember what the stovk seat was like as I only experienced that on test rides and did around 15k on low seats. I found using cycling under crackers made a difference too as it removed the usual pressure points caused by the seams in normal underwear. He could also try Daytona M star boots which add 25mm to the heel and 8mm to the sole of the boots. Putting a low seat on or using M stars will increase his knee angle too, so something else for him to consider. He could try just putting 1 foot down and moving his arse across the seat, rather than trying to get both feet down?

I’ve tried low seats on several bm bikes GS - XR - RS and I always found them to be uncomfortable due to less padding, I’ve now got a factory low gs with a standard height seat and it’s perfect, one thing to note if you fit bar risers (up and back ones) this also can aid discomfort because your changing your posture and putting more weight on the seat so a low seat with less padding may not be ideal.

Height is irrelevant, its inside leg and arch that determine whether you get feet down

The Low seat for the LC isnt actually any lower in real terms, it is 30mm lower, but the bike is 60mm wider, so any gains are wiped out

You can get a kaheedo ultra low which allows the ball of the feet to be down , (works best with a factory low bike too )
