Drilling main tank

Hey Kong how ya doin
Could you please give me a quick run thru on the procedure for drilling the main tank the way you did it, Thanks

Regards Kerry

Drilling main tank.

Kerry,

Had a look at those instructions and they are spot on the money.

I would also look out for the three rubbers falling into the tank when you lift the tank cover off.

Really be anal about swarf or crud getting into the tank.

Probably be an idea to have as little fuel in the tank as possible - the electric brushes on the drill armature do arc and spark a bit even on a new drill.

Be careful about the remaining space in the tank after topping it right up. Not a good idea to fill it to the brim and then leave it on the side stand in the hot sun.

All the best. :thumb

Ride Report

To all,
took the bike to Mount Isa on the weekend - it ended up being a little over 1800km. Main reason was to see how far the extra side tanks would extend the normal range of the bike.

On the trip out I pretty much rode as I normally do with an average of about 110kmh this included going through towns etc. I suppose I sat on ~120km for the most part. She conked out on me at around 670km.

On the way back I adjusted my speed back to between 100 / 110kmh. This time she died at 740km. (bloody hard to do on looong straight roads)

No problems with the set up at all - the bikes fuel gauge got a bit confused though. It showed that I had run out of fuel at 580km yet it continued on regardless

This photo is of the gps with all the info.

Best regards.
