R1200GS seat will not release!

Reading this just saved me a load of time and effort. Never thought to turn the key the other way. Dolt.
The best bet is to thump hard on the back of the seat as you keep the key turned. In case you are new to the GS Be aware it turns in the opposite direction to that when releasing the rear seat!

I have an aftermarket seat but the seat pan looks OEM. I have to remove the pillion seat before the riders seat will come away. Its no big deal and has never been a problem. Sometime the rider's seat has to be pressed down to release the catch but it's easy enough to feel if the key has moved far enough.

Putting it back can be fun. Check the seat lugs are lining up correctly before pressing the seat down. It's a knack but you'll soon get used to it.

What are you all going on about? I prefer to leave the seat on - much more comfortable!
