Lesson learnt is that if you do avg to high mileage it's probably worthwile changing the bike every two years and keep it under warranty, otherwise 6-7 years minimum to avoid losing too much money. I knew this before, but it's just so hard to face reality!

Dealer wasn't using CAP for their prices, they used Glasses Guide.

33k on a 4-5 year old bike, ain't high

No Johnny, its not a lot of miles, only an average of 7k a year, but sadly well above the 4k average that all the dealers and guides seem to work with nowadays.

Over here it's nearly impossible to find a buyer for a non ABS BMW bike, this could be a major factor in the low price your dealer quoted. Shop around, though !

33000 miles (52800km) for a 4-5 year old GS/A is what you'd expect for these kind of bikes, they're workhorses. And don't believe your dealer : there are customers out there specifically looking for a bike with your kind of mileage. Just gotta find 'em

I know the buyers are out there for bikes of this age and mileage, they tend to stay away from the main dealers.

Chaps its not just BM's got offered £5K for a year old FJR!!

However just traded an 1150Gs got £4K with 24K on the clock non ABS so I was happy with that (no bugger on here wanted it!!)

Remember, when you're enjoying your welcome Latte in a plush chair, with an array of bikes to look round and test ride someone has to pay for that. These are businesses not charities or clubs, behind the nice salesman there is a dealer principle wanting a profit, nothing wrong with that, not many of us go to work for free!!

Plenty of dosh flowing into BMW dealers then.................................wonder if it is cash (doubt) or all on the 'chuckie', 'never-never', 'tick' (probably)

Do you really want to change.

Had a 2008 GSA .. Thought I wanted to go back to a Jap 4 and purchased a FJR1300 .. for £9K .. Got 8.5K for my GSA ...

6 months later I realised I had made a big mistake .. Test rode a 2009 GSA and fell back in love .. I can't really tell you why but that's the way it was .. I have NEVER gone back to the same make/model before..

BMW dealer gave me £7K for my FJR. 2k down the drain and at least 4k lost on the original GSA

So what I'm saying is make sure you really want to change because it can be a very costly mistake if you feel the need to return to the fold.
