R1200GS vs R1200GSA power difference

Got myself a new steed today in the form of a 2012 R1200GSA and i cant help but think its got a lot more grunt than the 2011 R1200GS that i traded for this one. Now i realise that it could all be new bike and think its great but i really feel its got more kick, question is are they different, does the GSA have more power or anything??

What i read it says they are the same, but what are others experiences?

Oh and i must say that i read with interest lots of debate about swapping between the two versions, impressions for me so far in the first 250miles is i wish i had swapped a while ago, the GSA is far better bike and doesnt feel sluggish in anyway.

Conversely, fringe of this parish and I swapped my '11 Twin Cam GS with his Twin Cam GSA for a wee blast one day and he said that he didn't think there was much difference except that my GS was significantly quicker.

I swapped from an 11 plate GS to a 13 plate GSA, i thought the GS had more power and was smoother than the GSA, until it was de catted and mapped now I would say the GSA has the edge in terms of smooth delivery. But i cant help thinking that the 11 plate GS might have had a re map before i bought it at 9 months old. Not something many people tell the dealer when they trade them in?

If it's been remapped then it most probably would have been done at Hilltop. Give Geoff a ring - he will be able to tell you if it has.

Its got that low a mile on her that i would reckon its not been down to Geoff, its only done 2K, it did cross my mind that it might have been mapped. It unreal the difference, also with my 2011 GS i always suffered from white finger, yet on the GSA that 250 miles yesterday and not a problem no numb fingers or anything. With the GS i had grip puppies, rox risers the lot, with the GSA im to start with not bothering putting any on it. Is there anyway to tell if she has been mapped or would it be a case of take it along to a dyno??

From your account of the bike, and reading through all the Hilltop threads on here, it sounds like the previous owner had the GSA remapped. Call the guy that runs Hilltop, and he will confirm.

There was 1 difference in the engine gearbox dept. you could order the GSA with a lower ratio 1st gear which would make it more lively in first JJH

And a lot less clutch slippy on town.
