there is a whole seperate thread worth for that answer, but they are saying its worn out and causing clutch slip due to 2 bearings at the engine end of the shaft drive being worn. they are also saying my clutch slip is todo with the hand guard even though the slipping is intermittent. They seem more confused than me.
Its the 4th time they had tried to fix it, and inspected the shaft drive last time it went in ( 2k miles ago) they never said anything about it then.
The whole saga started when i had the clutch oil seal leak. when they split the bike, they realised that the clutch was almost worn out, so offered to fit a new one for 500 quid. (my bike had done 68k) so i thought ok do it.
From that moment onwards (and 4 months later) i have had clutch judder, 2 new clutches and my bike has been in and out the dealership about 5 times.
Each time i take it in, they try and sell me something else.
For example, when it was dropped off to be test ridden for the clutch judder (when pulling away) they claimed my battery was flat, and unless i paid 146 quid for a new battery, they were unwilling to test ride it. So i got the bike back, as i new the clutch judder was going to get worse. It did, and it went in again which was attempt no 2.
The problem has apparantly now spread out to the shaft drive, wehereby they initially tried to sell my replacement gators for 100 quid (the black rubber things you can see) and now the latest as i speak on the phone, they want me to buy a new shaft drive off them.
I have just returned off holiday wherebe i had clutch slip for the last 1000k miles back and am deeply dissatisfied with the whole experience.
That's a summary, but i'm sure you get the idea that i am angry and also not a technical guru of bmw's !!
