I see from a number of posts that the ability of the fuel gauge to read accuratly on the 1200GSA is questionable at the least.
From full I go 145 miles= down 1 bar, 153miles= down another bar, 165miles= 2 bars left, 285miles= 1 bar left. This is a pain, what is the point of the fuel gauge??

Has anyone managed to get this fuel gauge problem sorted??

Has anyone tried to push it through with BMW on a warrenty basis, faulty goods, not fit for purpose.

If all 1200GSA have the same problem, BMW should do something??? If it is not all 1200GSA, then why do some have faulty gauges, which as some one said "are for entertainment value only" !!!!

Total joke, on Sunday mine showed a range of 535klm, I then did 140klm and the range then showed 135klm! So bad it is laughable but it wouldn't happen on a BM car, the motoring press would crucify them!

Problems may be due to the odd shape tank:nenau Motor cycle fuel guages are much more difficult than the cars guages to get accurate, g forces, load & suspension settings all effect the tank sender, saying that my fuel guage is as good as any i've had on a bike, its very accurate when you need it (within 50 miles of empty)
The range function on the OBC is also very accurate, but you have to remember that it calculates the rate you are using fuel at compared to the fuel left, to make its prediction, so if you are drifting along on a whiff of throttle and it indicates 40 to empty, and you start gunning it to get somewhere you'll not get to a garage 40 miles away:nenau

the OBC *seems* a lot more linear in behaviour than the guage. dunno how they do that as it must use the same level float to estimate remaining fuel. anyhow it seems to work, especially as i near empty.

RID gauge is a near useless piece of crap.
