Need a wiring diagram for my 2010 R1200RT, or anything else using the same (conventional indicator) LH switchgear, eg K1300 etc

The dip / main switch has packed for the second time up with the bike just out of warranty, and there's no way I'm paying over £200 to replace it every 14 months. Yes Dick Lovett are great and will try to get a contribution from BMW but to be honest I'd rather do a permanent fix myself.

Does anyone have a link to the diagram so that I can see the colours of the wires on the High beam / Low beam / Flash switch before I dismantle it?

The flash still works and I'd happily fit a set of pushbuttons and a latching relay to give me hi & low beam again mounted just to the right of the existing switchgear in the style of the Paris-Dakar trip computers you sometimes see.

Thanks, Mark

As far as I am aware this is a problem with the circuit board in the switch gear cracking and can cause any of the switches to malfunction. It happened twice on my mates K1300GT, first time the indicators stopped working and second time it was the indicators and screen. Some heated phone calls with BMW and the dealer resulted in a free fix outside of the warranty period. Not sure if the fix will be permanent though. Leaves a bit of a sour taste, 14k on a new bike and I am going to Spain soon wondering if my switchgear will last :nenau

Maybe not on the RT.
My switch stopped working, or only intermittently, and was replaced. Nothing to do with the circuit board.

Just a fine example of poor build quality or shitty quality control IMO.

The wiring diagram shows a 0.35mm Brown/Black supply to the Hi-beam flash switch, from connector number 27.
The 0.35mm Brown/White wire is the Hi-beam switch wire from connector number 11.

Both wires run from the ZFE central electronics unit.

FYI and for what it's worth, I had my LH switchgear changed with in the warranty period and the RH outside. If hasn't had the extended warranty it could have been fixed as a gesture of goodwill as the problem is so prevalent and well known. But as I had the extended warranty I had to pay the £100 excess :-(

But I also has to be said it seems to have been fixed permanently on my K1300S. Other fixes included adding foam to brake reservoir many software issues, failed lambda sensor.

I'm just thinking of px, ing for either a 1200RT or a 1600 GT. first step is a test ride followed by on line research of failure issues that they suffer.
