R1200RT - LC Simple Question

Still wanting "real life" info, if anyone has any .
Got my own first piece of hard data today ............ discount sitting at the (approx) 6.2% level ... reckon they can do more (of course they can !!) .... but will they ??
Jury out on what to do next ...................

If you have a dealer on the hook with 6% start ringing round and get one to better it ! and so on and so on
I suggest you start with dealers a fair distance away and work closer to home )

That's a reasonable discount. Get them to chuck in some accessories, and the first service as well.:thumb

I got NOWT, no discount on a XR for a cash purchase so I'm going to pay for the bike on my credit card, dealer will have to swallow the card payment costs and I'll be covered under section 75 if I encounter any issues .

They may not accept that as they could pass on the charges to you but good luck I hope you can

I had an interesting conversation with a sales guy from Alan Jeffries a month ago. My new RT was swamped in a tide of corrosion enduced decrepiture, the salesman at Alan Jeffries (Paul, I think) said they would beat WOLLASTON on price no matter. Not the answer you want in figures, but as previously said towards the end of the month and sales quarters there are deals to be done. Ring round a few dealers as the cost of a few phone calls could gain you hundreds in savings.
Oh, if you do get a new LC RT plaster it in ACF 50 or use all year biker.

Hi Cortina,

If you or anyone else want a very slightly used 'As New' RT-LC, I am selling mine...

Last year I purchased a new 1200GS-LC and an RT-LC 'cos me and the missus couldn't decide which bike would suit our needs the best. (yes extravagant I know.)

Earlier this year we did the BMW Riders Club Rob Roy 3-day Event in Scotland on the RT-LC

Yesterday we arrived back from a 10 day trip to Austria which we did on our GS-LC

Both superb bikes, but the one that suits us best is the GS-LC, so I will be arranging to sell our RT-LC next week, if you or anyone else is looking for a bargain please email me for a selection of photographs of this lovely bike on: [email protected]
or mob. 07760 483 643

This is a fully spec'd bike September 2014 bike, it's not one of the earlier models released with the recalled shocker issue.
Spec list includes:
Dynamic pack (all power modes).
Chrome on stainless exhaust.
Hill start braking system.
Quick-shift pro gear-change
Day-time led headlight rings (halos).
Heated front and rear seats.
Optimate charging cable.
BMW factory fitted alarm system.
Tire pressure indicators
Central locking.
Colour; Ebony
ACF'D from new.

This bike is immaculate, it has obviously had its first service, the mileage now is just 1,800 miles.

This bike cost just a few quid short of £1700.00 from Ryders last September, and has been kept in a warm garage for most of it's life and is perfect!

I'm looking for £12,600.00 ...if you want to save some money please get in touch.

Re the above bike my RT-LC.

Cortina has very kindly posted a couple of photos of my bike in the Non-GS bikes for sale. Cortina did this for me because I don't have a clue how to!

I will add more details to the photos shortly, probably tomorrow.

Many thanks Cortina, you're a star.

Pretty much what I was going to suggest. One year old ish SH private purchase. Still got the BMW warranty for a year.

Yep..BMW Warranty is two years so it has the factory warranty and the BMW roadside assistance cover until 12th September 2016.

Well I have done two things a) Taken Aidan's advice and opened my wallet ... ordered a new LC , and b) Answered my own question about discount that could be achieved ... although there is "always" a better deal to be had somewhere , by someone !! .... 6.22% off ........... was best I could manage

Kind of made the choice between new or little used , a little tricky ..... argument was in my head between higher used spec being "nice" , but more things to go wrong in the future ... say 8 years down the road / 1 or two prevoius owners vs none / 1 year warranty vs 2 / colour choice vs no choice / included road tax vs none / etc etc ................

anyway ... have got off the pot !

Ebony LC on here is a good deal for someone , seat on it is low ... but a new one is "only" £270 odd ... and low one would be quite sellable I think !!

:beerjug:

The discount you get is always the best decision, so good call. Having been a new RT owner for nearly three weeks now I congratulate you.

Do stop and think about the seat. I'm about 30-31 inside leg, prefer the standard seat on high. One thing that was explained when I picked up the bike was that the seats are set to sit flush against the tank when on the low setting, so if I was gambling I'd go for the standard seat on low rather than the low seat on high.

Whichever way you go, enjoy. Can't wait for the 5k rev limit to got away post run-in

Not the way I would "suggest" someone to run a bike in ... within reason , revs matter not a jot .... it's load on the engine that's important , and it does an engine good to make it work a bit ..... get those piston rings out and rubbing , avoid a glazing of the bores scenario. Do BMW seriously suggest just imposing a rev limit for x miles ????

Aggghhhhhhhhhhhhh ............. (anyway ... whole different subject area)

PS Seat for me will just be standard , my legs would be a good bit longer than yours !!

cheers

Apologies, mis-read your post about the seat.

Don't forget on run in that the run in restrictions are largely due using "running in" oil which cannot take sustained temp/pressure without breaking down. Also, in these days of telematics tracking I would suggest doing just what they say as on each service your riding behaviour will be downloaded and your potential warranty claims affected accordingly.
