I had my 1150 Adventure serviced at Williams in Manchester today and had an R1200RT as a courtesy bike.
This was the first time I'd ridden anything like this and I rather liked it. Heated seat and electric screen were nice toys (in fact I rode around the M60 simply to keep playing with the screen) and it certainly felt very agile around town. On the Mway it felt slightly less planted than the Adv but the acceleration at higher speeds was great. I reckon it would probably well better loaded with panniers and touring kit rather than worse
It was damn small though. I'm only a shade over 6' but the pegs were way too high, so much that I doubt I could ride it long term without lower pegs.
Gearbox was OK but not the leap ahead from the 1150 one that I'd heard it was meant to be.
An interesting change but not for me for a few years: having spent £385 on the Adv serviec I dont think I'll be spending anything for a while anyway...
