R1200S - anyone know anything about them?

I was thinking of getting a used one.

Does anyone know if they have any problem areas / things to pay attention to?

Or a forum which covers them?

(I have searched and Googled!)

I know you should be able to pick them up cheap as they never sold well. Some dealership made 'Specials' out of them in an attempt to shift them.

the r1200 s are good ,had one for two years ,no problems so far ,temping fate now i said that . bought mine for doing long distance on ,500 mile in a day at a good rate , done this a couple of times , few trips of 320 miles as well , did use some oil and returned 45+ to a gallon ,least the oil is cheap . only gripe is the screen , all the wind catches you in the neck ,ok now with a double bubble .

Brilliant bike bought mine as a second bike as I have a 1200GS 08 model.

Got excellent deal on 07 plate (all 06 as this only year manufactured) 3400 on clock black, BMW owned bike, 9 months full BMW warranty, dealer gave me additional 7 months BMW Used bike warranty to top it up, no ABS (going to keep along time so avoided this) 6 inch rear wheel.

Have now fitted Zard exhaust, bos stainless headers (sounds brilliant), carbon hugger, carbon cylinder guards, an considering painting wheels black.

Fitting exhaust and junking cat has made a massive difference to mid range and performance.

Like fact they are quite rare, look on You tube for them in track action you will be suprised how they perform.
No Problems to date (Touch wood)
