Handling is comparable. Both are top shelf imo.
Oh, I'm sure I'd have a great time and ride. I could ask myself "Ride the Peak-to-Peak Scenic By-way again in Colorado?" or "Ride to Wales, Scotland?" I'd pic the latter!

Heres a beauty, from a company in germany, schnitzer i think. In my opinion the way way BMW should have built the bike-maybe not in kawasaki colours though!!!

It is a stunning bike and I am seriously thinking of buying one. However, now the Ducati 999 replacement has been announced - I am not so sure.
The 12S is a very capable bike, well sorted with bags of character. To prove that we are all different I found it more comfortable than any GS I have ever ridden and beautifully fuelled. Oddly enough so is my ST!
As a last observation, perhaps people are not seeing the full picture with comments based on one small experience of a machine. I think one one has to adapt and become familiar with every bike ridden, or owned, in order to appreciate all of its facets.

There is always a trade-off. For my style of riding the lack of bottom end power of the R1200S is made up by the increase in top end power, it also feels gutless at town speeds due to the high first & second gear.
For me the R1200S is a better total package than the GS, for where I do 99.99% of my riding, that is, road use and track days.
And the childish freesance of excitement I get from blowing off the entire field of R1's and GSX's at a track day (see below) makes it the bike for me. If I did more off road the 122ps R1200S engine in a HP2 chassis would be fun.
For me the R1200S is a better total package than the GS, for where I do 99.99% of my riding, that is, road use and track days.
And the childish freesance of excitement I get from blowing off the entire field of R1's and GSX's at a track day (see below) makes it the bike for me. If I did more off road the 122ps R1200S engine in a HP2 chassis would be fun.

I also found that the GS1200Adv was a very good handling bike, but again put a lot of that down to the upright riding position and the confidence it gives.
In the right hands - I would expect the supersports machines to romp away.

Yeah, I know. My post doesn't read too brilliantly either - too much alteration along the way.
I loved the R1200s, but one of the reasons I'm not planning on buying one is that I wouldn't use my BoxerCup at all if the 1200s was there
It wasn't too brilliant on my back however, whereas my BoxerCup and Daytona 650 have no effect even after a whole day out

I've decided to get one to compliment the GS (which I also love). I want something for track days and just to have a change from the GS once in a while. There is a bloke over here who won a regional championship running against Ducati's and such on an S 
In another 18 months, I'll be in the market for another bike. The 1200s will certainly be on my list of bikes to try. Looks wise however the Ducati 1098 has it in the bag (see below). As for servicing costs and reliability - I'm not suire if there's a lot in it

Yes, its very nice (although if they restyled their aircooled twin I'd be all over that). You're going to see millions of them and it looks a lot like the Trumpet 675 thingy too. I think in the real world its not going to be as much fun to ride as it is to look at. The S is funky and different and has usuable performance imho.
