Sorry, english is not my mother tongue and probably I did not explain well. What I intended is that if an optimizer work as it should, and regularly stops charging, it makes no damages. But also you probably read, like I did, a number of posts made by riders that leave their fully working battery connected to an optimizer at the end of the summer, and find it dead in spring. Difficult to say what are the reasons. Poor quality mantainer? There is no easy way to test if it works like it should, or overcharges. Parasitic drain of some aftermarket parts, like anti-theft system or gps tracker, cameras, that force the optimizer work in the wrong way?
For these reasons I do not trust a lot battery optimizers. I do have a CTEK that is a charger/mantainer, but prefer to use it once a month if i stop riding for that long time. If this is a hassle for someone, my advice is use a mantainer that starts automatically once connected to line, and a digital timer that turns it on once a month. Or more often, if needed.
