R1250GS tank bag?

As above, I have a 1250GS. I purchased a tank bag from a fellow tosser a while back, but don’t find it convenient as it straps on.

I’m thinking of a tank ring and clip-on bag. I’m intending to use it for the usual bits and pieces, and for my digital SLR camera. Ideally just unclip, and use shoulder strap when off the bike.

What are the congregation’s views and recommendations?

Givi? Motech? Wunderlich? Shad? Touratech? Oxford?

I’ve got a mosko moto hood tank bag. I don’t use it much but it whenever I do it’s fantastic.

I have a SW-Motech bag on a tank ring.... love it. Works very well for me. Super easy at filling up time... just pull the trip cord, bag unlocks, shove it on the seat, fill up then reverse the procedure.

I use an Oxford Q4R which mounts on a ring, so easy to fit/remove.
The bracket that stays permanently on filler cap ring is not intrusive.
It has access for a charging cable too.

SW-Motech is the way forward. A good range of kit and great quality.

SW Motech here too.
Easy to fit and remove, secure and you should be able to find one in the range that suits your requirement for size. I’ve a micro and urrr a bigger one I can’t remember the name of.
One thing to note, the mechanism for mounting this style of bag does intrude on interior space, the bag isn’t quite as spacious as it may appear from the exterior.
Don’t recall seeing one with a shoulder strap.

I have the UglyBros one. It fits with a Givi ring, if I recall. Has a shoulder strap, but the bag islikely not big enough for an SLR, unfortunately

But it is possible to ride half a day with it unzipped…

Did have the Shad TR10 previously and whilst nothing wrong with it, I sold it on (to a fellow gentleman tosser) and then got the Oxford, same job at a greater amount of VFM

SW Motech "City" tank bag on a mounting ring.

I use it almost every ride on the GSA for my keys, phone etc.

Shad here. The latest one that expands to 9 litres. Locks to bike on the ring. I sold a Moto Mosko Nomad because of the faff with straps. A great quality bit of kit but ultimately, didn't work with my lack of patience.

Just as a bit of info, I also have a strap on tank bag that I find a bit bulky but ok for occasional use, however for my regular ride bits and bobs I have a Givi tank bag on a ring that I have attached to the rear carrier plate ( Touratech ) I can carry a large or small bag on it without it getting in the way and I can put a power feed into it from under the rear seat to charge stuff if needed, it’s secure on the back and out of the way and being on a ring easily it’s removed when necessary.

I have a couple of SW Motech, a small one that is not waterproof and a large one that is waterproof. They seem to be ok. I switch them back and forth between two bikes. Any bag that uses the tank ring should be pretty handy. And if you have room in the top box or panniers when you stop you can pull it off and throw it in for security. With the small version...... It is much easier to refuel with bags that fit the tank ring as opposed to the old style that strap on imo ....

Love my SW Motech Pro Micro one - waterproof cover, stores the essential. Rest goes in the front bar bags or top box.

Binned the genuine r1250gsa tank bag as it was marking the tank, went for Givi tank ring and I have a couple of bags that I swap around between three bikes , have a larger bag (about 5 litres bigger than the BMW one for touring and a smaller 15 litre bag for days out .

Both are much more convenient than the BMW item and especially when touring it is so much simpler to refuel the bike
