R1300 RS screens

Awesome! That is a great price too.

I cant see how to buy or order yet. But it must be close. I've actually got used to the standard screen. So changing it will bring pure luxury 😅

i have tried different screens on other bikes to be honest the only screen improvement i ever really noticed was the one i got for my bmw 1600gt tried the puig on my sx 1000 never noticed any difference when fitting a screen to my hornet cb 750 it made it worse it was better with no screen i bought a touring screen from e bay last week for my rs 1250 logo on it was rs but didnt know the make of it it was a bit wider and taller , this was a lot worse than my stock screen so that was removed . good luck with the puig screen on the 1300rs hope it works , i am used to my stock screen on my 1250 now and will stick with it problem with screens is you cant try before you buy and each screen is different to each rider .

By coincidence, I received an email from Nippy Normans this morning about them offering a 'Buy and try as many as you want and return if not liked at our expense' on Wunderlich screens. Might be worth a look to get the right one if you can be bothered with the faff.

Yes exactly.
My thinking is- with the screen in the upper position. If i dip down an 2 inches it goes calm and quiet. Like just a little more height in the screen will give that sweet spot. I do agree though. I have had screens previously that only seem to increase buffering.

The data from Puig appears to be an improvement. Especially looking at the testing speed.

We can only try.

looking at the diagram of the wind flow it looks better but my experience with the puig i bought on a honda 750 hornet it was much worse better with no screen , like i have said before screens are a personal choice what works for one may not work for someone else . i will be sticking with my stock on my 1250 rs , the only screen that ever worked for me was my bmw 1600 gt and that was a massive difference from the gt screen if i remember correctly it was a v stream??

The Givi is just a bit too big for me.
I called Puig Barcelona again. The screens are being made. Dark first. Then smoked and clear. Dark is avaliable to order through dealers. The others will be ready in 1 week.

The airflow video looks like in the low position it acts as per the standard screen in high. The frustration is there is no data or video showing it in high.

I've waited this long. And I'd rather go for the smoked one to try and keep the look of the bike but also I ride at night so need to see through it in the dark.

Puig screens available to buy on Ubicarmotos site. 5 day delivery time.
Ordered. Will update with results and photos when it arrives

1st point - I ride an RS12. 10 years old and 56K miles.

I found Nirvana when I cut the OEM screen down. Wind noise on my helmet reduced.

I could breath better on hot days, especially on tour in Europe.

The wind hits my torso and removes all weight from my wrists. My bones don’t like a sports bike riding position.

We’re all different heights and proportions so one’s optimum screen height may not be optimum for anyone else.

All screens throw air around the rider so the challenge is finding the quietest one for you.

Try a ride without a screen to make a base line, and work up to the minimum necessary height.

ps - I’ve survived heavy rain and strong winds with my short screen. It stays down. I’d never want to look through Perspex.

pps - I just painted the inside surface of the clear screen

Ah, not so good then. The race is on, will Puig make their hugger available before the screen!?!

The order from Ubicarmotos (Which is actually Motocard) is out for delivery. Arriving Monday. So for sure Puig screens and in production and now being shipped.

When one tucks and finds a magic quiet spot the foremost reason is that the attached (to fairing and screen) laminar air flow suddenly can jump the gap cleanly and immediately reattach to helmet and back of riders body. All the noise (turbulence and drag) moves to rider's back side. There will not be a general size/shape sceen that will fit everyone, every bike, every day to achieve that. And throw in a quartering headwind, say 30kt- just for grins.

I've always used minimal screens. Experimented with numerous double screens to create a slot. Viz aircraft landing flaps or Bermuda sloop rigs with large overlap. For the area involved the airflow manipulation possibilities will be greater

the triple black (USA version) low position is pretty damn good in heavy quartering head gusts. The Puig illustrations look as though there is ample wind tunnel data. Givi? Perhaps a pizza chef's apron. Those corners will induce vortices - maybe good - maybe not. Aero is a snake pit in a mine field.

Screen arrived. Will test on the commute tomorrow and take photos at work.

Interestingly. When I removed the original screen it had a choice of mounting holes. High or low.

I set the Puig to high holes. But with screen in normal position the top of the screen is right in line of sight. Then on raised its like looking through a windscreen!

Reset to lower holes. Looks better. Normal position seems higher than standard in raised. But its wider and had some interesting side shapes i assume to direct the wind. In raised it was just under line of sight. So tomorrow will tell .

After two rides I set the standard screen to lower holes. Much, much more to my liking. The Puig looks as if it will be smooth at the neck and clean on face?

Please, could you post a centerline vertical measurement of your Puig screen? Metric, Imperial, barley corns, whatever...
Thanks

Tried the screen this morning. I'm unsure. First point is its alot bigger. So is more in my line of sight. I find this a bit distracting. I mounted on the lower mounting holes. On low its not as good as I expected. Quite disappointing. On raised its quite high compared to standard as will take some getting used to. Height seems ok but on low it seems the angle is too far back so wind comes directly to face. Crazy.

I moved it to the higher mounting holes to try. But on raised its like a barn door and I'd be basically looking through it! No way.

So I've set it back to the lower mount holes. But spaced out the top screws with nuts and washers. I will retry on commute home.

The nuts as spacers cured it. On low it is good but allows cool air to helmet vents. Its getting hot here. 28deg this evening so having airflow is needed.

In high. Its not silent. But instantly noise reduces and wind buffering calms.

Overall now its quite decent. Its not perfect but its an improvement. So I'll keep it on and continue to use.
