With previous models you could press a button to put the aux. lights on and off and it isn't even an option on the favourites list accessible via this wonderwheel thing. You have to go through quite a few screens to get to it which is no use to me when I want to put them on in a hurry (I don't usually ride with them on all the time as cars seem to want you to pass them even in 30 / 40 mph areas.)
Why didn't / don't BMW have a minor software tweak to have them quickly, and easily, accessible via the wonderwheel?
I can live without the heated grips button but I'd like a quick access route for the aux. lights.
Newer isn't aways better (did I mention the lack of a proper brake light and visible rear indicators?)

they have to build them wrong and or ugly - so they can do an update to make it better again - its called marketing

where sales remain healthy they just make them worse - when sales start to flop, roll out the next new model that look different
the more often they can ruin a feature you liked - the more you'll buy the next revision on

all they have to do is keep the BS image alive and lemmings never swap brands

if Honda had a decent shaft drive adventure bike BM sales would halve overnight
but its OK the management team at Honda are now so thick they can't see the opportunity - and as sales implode they'll try anything other than make the bike we want, because that would mean they have to admit they were wrong - and in Japanese culture that can't happen - so all we get is BMW pushing the price up and up whilst the product gets less and less durable....

BMW did a survey and found that any person that owns a BMW never uses the indicators - they could not rid completely as apparently they are still an MOT requirement.

That’s only true for the cars…… some of us that RIDE BMW’s can ( and do) actually use indicators when necessary

I don't have the 1300, but I do have a 1250 with the darla lights. And it has the wonder wheel module. They are profusely bright. But they also allow you set the brightness for just running lights and low beam at night on a scale of 1 to 10. For just running I have them set on 1 or 2, being the lowest setting. I don't seem to be upsetting anyone. When you hit the brights it looks like a freight train coming, lights up to the 10 setting, just for the bright setting.

So I'm asking if you can find a brightness setting for just running lights then you might be able to just leave them on. That is what I have been able to do. The thing is the darla lights for the older bikes are some what difficult to run and you always forget how to run them. So the 1300 might not be to bad after all maybe ..... And one could also make sure the lights are adjusted just slightly down, which can help a lot too ....
