Hi

Does anyone have experience of fitting the longer BMW OE side stand to an R1300GSA comfort frame with adaptive suspension? Please share or PM me if you have.

I have researched aftermarket longer side stands and extenders, so please no need to comment on these.

Many thanks

I had one fitted to my bike last week, £185 fitted at vines bmw, seems a lot better, but have yet to lift it of the sidestand with all 3 boxes plus tankbag plus 30lt of fuel 😵‍💫.

I look forward to hearing pro’s and any con’s

I put the longest BMW stand on my standard (not 'comfort') 1300GSA after I struggled to lift the bike with loaded panniers on a slight slope. No such problem since.

It is a very easy swap if you remove the bolt and stand with the springs still attached to both the frame and stand, leave them on the frame and attach them to the new stand. Very little effort is then required to slide the new stand into the frame bracket and slide in the bolt (with fresh blue threadlock). Literally 5mins start to finish. Took longer to unbox it!

I swapped my stand to the longer BMW one and it is absolutely perfect now and yet I have the adaptive hight, it was a pig to pick off the lower stand loaded two up but its not now. Stop thinking about it and just do it.

Many thanks for the update.

Is your bike a Comfort (lower) frame?

Cheers

I have A GSA non ride height option, Can I just order from BMW the "Longest" side stand ? How much was it ?
Cheers (y)

In which case you already have the longest stand, AIUI.
Ok. I've had to put an extender on it to stop it leaning over so far. Is it possible to give a measurement of the "Longest" stand ?

I understand it’s 420mm tip to tip. It’s the BMW R1300GS GSA extended Side Stand 46 53 1 638 149.

Just measured it. It is 420mm ! It must be proper bad with anything less than that.

There are 3 different sidestand lengths available from BMW. The parts guy at my dealer put my VIN into the system and told me which sidestand I have and ordered the longest one for me. Took a couple of days to arrive. My bike is the stock, not lowered suspension, but with adaptive ride height. It had the shortest of the 3 sidestand lengths as it left the factory.
