Gents, the mechanic re-wiring my g/s is struggling a little given that (a) what he is working with his non-original, so not like for like replacement and (b) he is under 30, so a generation of bike he is not familiar with.

A plea therefore, for any photos of the main loom electrics (including headlight), if you have some please. Then I might actually get the bike out the corner of the shop to ride. I have trawled a good part of the airhead forum and extracted photos that might help, but there aren't many specifically relevant to the electrics. So if you have any, I would be grateful if you could drop me a PM so I can give you my email address.

One problem he has is with the ICU, see second photo, it does not seem to be plug and play into the new wiring loom?

Now I know the wiring is simple so perhaps the mechanic could attract cricticism but he actually very good and I'm sure given time he could figure it all out on his own, but pictures would certainly go a long way to help.

Cheers

Billy

Billy

have you got a workshop manual, (Haynes) with a wiring diagram?

Are you using a new loom or the existing one? - from what you have said, you seem to be using the existing one which has been modified - but you mention plug and play into a NEW loom???

I think that you have answered your own question - you need an original wiring diagram at hand and then you need to work out what mods have been made

or start with a new loom plus (sub looms)

I cannot see how photographs of other Bikes will help - if they are standard they will follow the wiring diagram

Hello Bill, yes I have a Haynes manual which give a B&W wiring diagram. Another forum member has kindly offered a colour version.

Wiring looms (main, rear, clutch and engine) are new, as are all handlebar electrics, headlight, ignition unit and idiot board. This is where I hoped the plug and play came in given that pretty much every electrical wire is new.

Thanks

Billy
