R80 G/S tyres

I need some more aggressive tyres for my R80 G/S. I'm leaning towards TKC 80's. I'm confused as they are listed in metric and imperial type sizes and I've seen bikes fitted with both. What's fundamental differences? By the way I was going for 90/90x21 front and 120/90 x18 rears but also available in 300x21 and 4.10x 18 . Opinions please.

Thanks Cookie. I've had them before too and I'd agree about longevity but this is for my 'trail' bike and will not get high mileage. The query is about the differences between the sizes.

No one can explain why these tyres are available in metric and imperial sizes especially as some appear to be so similar as to make no practical difference. There is a lot of feedback on the ADV rider forum so I've decided to go with 90/90x21 front and 120/90x18 rear.

People say the Mitas 09 is a better all round alternative

I have these on mine too, although I'm thinking of getting the original type Metzelers, Enduro 1 and 2.

The TKC's have been brilliant. I used Avon Distanzias and Gripsters before and have felt no loss of grip with the TKC's except wet iron work. I'd recommend the TKC's I just want to try the Metzelers next time as they were designed for the bike when it was released. If I like them I'll stick with them, however, if not I'll go back to TKC's.

I have the original Metzelers fitted at the moment and they work well until the going gets very sticky. As they are nearly new I'll be keeping them. It's just that I fancy seeing what this bike would be like on the TKC's. I've not used them for a while and that was on a paralever.
