a number of minor parts are in the queue for a coat of satin black - might do speedo at same time; would definitely make it look less "custom"...
A few updates on the completed bike

After setting the ignition timing the heavily rebuilt motor runs like a dream - ticks over perfectly and pulls cleanly even with the ridiculous air filter and exhaust combo.
Despite bleeding and bleeding the front brake, the lever still comes back to the bars - does this means the later bar-mounted m/c I've fitted to replace the undertank one isn't compatible with ATE calipers? Or do I need one with a bigger/smaller piston diameter? Or what?
The exhaust isn't a health hazard - the heat shield only gets warm, not hot, while the underside of the tank and new fuel tap barely seem to get any warmer at all.
A few niggles like the occasional dash light not working, (will the neutral light work at all if the clutch lever switch is missing?), but otherwise should be going thru its Mot Friday. Can't wait!
