Any recommendations where to go and what price to pay - its a 19L?

Managed to get someone local interested (after a number of knock backs) but price was £350  (I have the decals to give them). It did include the cockpit fairing but still seemed very dear to me.

For that price I think I'd consider posting it off somewhere (unless thats the going rate), a recommendation would be good though.

Thanks

What colour do you want it? I know a guy who can probably do it for a lot less than that... he painted a whole defender for 200, though the owner supplied the paint!

Have a go yourself if you have the time......... Here's one I prepared earlier

I'd certainly be interested at £350 :thumb

Seriously, it's not too hard with a few tips from folk in the know

I've been teaching myself to spray paint recently. I started with easy things such as SWMBO horse trailer.

Today I've respayed my GS tank. I've bought a better gravity spray gun which gives much better results than cheap gun that came free with the compressor.

As with all painting, the preparation is everything. I've spent many hours rubbing down the original paint and preparing it very carefully. As it is a plastic tank, I needed a special plastic sealant/primer and gave that many coats before the basic white primer today. The time needed is again for the rubbing down. I used progressively finer paper, 600, 800 and 1000 grade to smooth out all imperfections after each coat has dried.

I'll post up photos after I've finished it tomorrow.

You are welcome to have a bash at Airhead Weekend if you like.:)

I have a r100 tank that I'd like to fit to the 80g/s at some point for longer rides in the forest. If possible... I may bring it up a bit before the weekend and have a go at painting it if that is okay.... never really done anything before other than houses and crash bars! I'll give you a shout to see what consumables I may need... paper, paint etc!

My paint guy is mainly a auto painter, but is happy to do the top coat only on bike work, and charge a lot less.

Doing it this way means that any problems with the finished job or in the future are automatically down to my preparation, so he is very happy to do it this way.

If I was to use a guy I know who only does show quality show I wouldn't get a tank done for GBP 350- , never mind a faring too.

The hard bit in this is getting the message across to the painter as to the quality of work you expect, but if you want flawless show quality work expect to pay for it.

I used recently Barwell Bodyworks near leicester on Rob Farmer's recommendation. :bow

Did a great job on a complete set of 100GS white bits for £500 (decals supplied by me, applied and lacquered in by them). That included properly painting the undersides of everything too.

Hmmmm removing my crash bars and side stand for powder coating was a challenge not sure my skills would extend to painting :augie. but they do lok lovely in satin black.

At £350 or the tank though I'll stick with wat I got. Hadn 't thought of a car body shop though might give that a shot.

£350 must be the going rate. That was exactly what I paid to have my tank and front fairing painted white and the decals chequered lacquered in
