Following todays foray out to the MOT Testing Station (failed on rear wheel bearing) decided that my riding skills and brakes are not suited to the skittish TKCs in the wet, in traffic. So want to replace with something a bit more road orientated.

The road tyres (Lasertec, Bt45) I am looking at seem to be all tubeless. I presume there is no problem putting a tube in, but I would like to have a bash at removing/fitting the tyre myself (I've bought tyre levers :blagblah).

So before I give it a go, question is this. I am presuming that tubeless tyres have a reinforced sidewall; does this make getting the tyre on and off with hand tools pretty difficult (compared with a tube specific tyre) and therefore your just best taking it to a shop? Or is there little difference?

Why bother with tubeless??
The original tyres designed for the bike are still available.
Enduro 1 front
Enduro 2 rear....
I fit them myself without a problem..
I also keep at least one pair in stock as they are made once every two years or so...
A set >>> £110 the pair plus post..
which was cost last year :)

If anyone objects to me not being a subscriber and offering these tyres...
FUCK 'EM ..........
it's not like I'm making anything on them....

I'm watching you sonny !! :D Best price I've ever actually seen; more of a favour to fellow tossers if you ask me ! :thumb2

Thanks Kenny.
I got that price because I bought 5 sets.
got 1 set left [apart from a set I keep for myself]
If Kav wants them, someone will let him know how to contact me..
They really are the best tyre for a mono, safe up to a ton and quite capable green laners, plus they really handle well when being used in a "spirited" fashion on tarmac !!!!

May I ...

is it worth the hasel for what it cost to get a tyre changed and ballenced I hope you got one of thouse dudars as well to ballance :augie

Its not a cost issue. I just want to give it a go so that I know if I am able to do it myself (change tube) when lost in the deepest part of Surbiton with a flat.

I would take the wheels to get balanced after I've fitted the tyres.

If a Tubeless tyre is no more difficult to remove/get back on than a Tubed, I'll get one of those.

Proff/Oblertone, thanks for the kind offer, might get back to you on it when I've figured out what I want to do.

Spoke to the guy who did my rear wheel bearing (or I think more accurately bevel box bearing) and he said there would be no difference between fitting either a tubed or tubeless tyre, so there is my answer.

On the bearing, I was sent the wrong one, though strangely mechanic had a used one (he never throws anything away) in good order from a 1100 which was identical and put in as a temporary fix to pass the MOT - which it did :JB.

Means another £50 to go back and get the new one fitted when it arrives :blast.
