Hi all,

A quick question to those in the know!
I'm looking at getting hold of an R80GS Basic headlight, cowl/cockpit and screen for a project that I'm doing, but I can't work out how they attach to the forks. I've looked at the microfiche for the bike, but I can't work it out.

Could anyone help me out? A couple of photos of the mounting would be absolutely fantastic if there's a generous R80GS Basic owner out there.

Many thanks in advance,

Rob

There are 4 holes in the back of the headlight cowl, these have rubber grommets with steel tubes through the middle and align with the two holes on the top yolk. The bottom yolk has a bracket (item 9 in the microfiche) that aligns with the bottom two holes, this then bolts to the hole in the centre of the bottom yolk. Good luck with tracking one down, they are bloody expensive and hard to find. The front section is available new for around £70.

Thanks Rob, I really appreciate your help.

Looks like the price might be prohibitive!

It works out to around £300-£400 by the time you track all the parts down. I paid £25 for a second hand back, £70 for a new front. You then need idiot lights, headlight, headlight mounting brackets, speedo, ignition switch etc.

Here's a photo of the mounting brackets fitted to the yokes, if it's of any use to you. Taken when I stripped my G/S down.

It's items 4 and 5 in the previous diagram that I need. Anbody got them for sale??
