R80TIC Winter Project

It’s not finished but it’s getting close. Just placed my last order with Motorworks for the last few little bits. The side number boards need to be fitted and that’s about it.
Needs to be started and set up, but that’s for another day.

I have recently repaired the threads on a tank for Mike, can`t remember the thread form off hand. Might have been M20 X 1mm pitch ???
I could make you a stainless cap ????

That looks lovely 👍

Wow.....Thats one of the best resto's I've seen, love the exhaust, well done with that Colin

Yes please, that would be perfect.
Colin can you check that the diameter is 20mm and that the pitch is 1mm ,if you do not have thread gauges to hand use an M6 bolt as they are 1mm pitch.
Also can you tell me the distance from the tank to the bottom of the thread. ( how far the boss protrudes from the tank).

If it is M20x1mm, I think that is the same size as the swing arm pivots. I've a tap for that size if needed. Also a few spare swing arm nuts....

If I had a few to make I would be asking / begging to borrow your tap as it is a size that I do not have.
As a one off I will cut the thread on the lathe, but thanks anyway.

Stunning build, well done to all involved. Love the Motorrad tank stripes, are they painted or decal?

Hi Chris,

It’s 20mm dia 1mm pitch, with 6mm of thread.

Thanks,

Colin

That looks absolutely perfect.
Well done on the build. Health to ride this fantastic machine.

The bike is done. Met up with Tufts on Thursday night for a beer and he took the photo. Popped over to Mike’s today for its first proper ride out. Nothing fell off, and everything worked with the exception of the Acewell speedo. The needle is bouncing all over the place, possibly a loose connection or the sensor. That’s a job for another day. The number boards are off for painting on Monday.
The old photo was part of the inspiration for the build.

Not aceptable Colin, as it is missing a vital part. A Bosch sticker on a fuel tank. 🙄

All joking aside, you both look great! :D
