R850GS fuel pump

Hi daft question and I think I know the answer. On turning ignition on you can hear the fuel pump prime up then stop. On starting the bike you can just here the pump going all the time is this correct and should it be loud enough that you can here it.

They vary. The one on the 850GS I used to have was quite loud, to the extent that I replaced it, only to find that the new one wasn't much quieter. The one in my 1100RS has always been barely audible, possibly because of the "plastic" tank? Both are slightly noisier when the fuel level is low.

I had an R850R and the fuel pump was much louder than the ones on my R1150GS or R1200GS......God knows why.

Anyway, I sold it as I hated it....80mph type 'bike......
