Hi all

I have the face lifted R850R and ordered a set of the 1150GS handguards as all things seem to point to a pretty straight forward fit.

Now, I have read most if the posts and guides on here so I was surprised that when I offered the guards up to the bike they don't appear to fit all. The angles are all wrong where the guard meets the clamp on the handlebar such that the peg doesn't line up.

So, the question is.... What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks for your help

Andy

If yours is the earlier model with the individual cast handlebars rather than the normal single tubular bars I am not surprised they don`t fit

Hi, no it's the later model that is visually the same as the R1150R with the single handlebar. It has all the same switchgear etc as the GS etc hence my surprise on how far out they are.

Yes but will they fit if you bend them? I put 1150 r bars on my gsa and the hand guards fitted but the had to be 'manoovered' into place!

Possibly... To give an idea of how much out they are, if they are fixed at the end near the clutch pipe the bar end is about 3-4 inches out so they would take quite a bit of bending to fit them. Is this what most experience?

My 2003 r850r is fitted with 1150 gs hand guards. I have seen some 850r's with slightly higher bars than mine, and the bends are tighter. I also fitted 1150gs footrest and brackets.

I've fitted many a pair of GS handguards onto an 850/1150R. They don't fit perfectly, just need a bit of persuasion.

Still no joy, no amount of persuasion is getting the angles right! At this stage I give up...

They WILL fit I had them on my r1150r and my rockster. :rob

Hey Ian?! I love the pix. Deadly.

O.P. something is wrong you should be able to make them fit!

Probably got the left and right mixed up. :augie

Swap them over. :D

Gave up in the end and returned the guards to Motorworks (great service by the way with a no quibbles refund in full, thanks!).

As the primary purpose for me is wind protection I ended up going for a pair of Barkbusters Storm s7's. Very pleased with them.

Cheers
