Has anyone on here had any experience with road racing an airhead?

Went to a track day yesterday to pit crew for a mate testing his XS1100 classic racer and it looked like heaps of fun. Track is an hour away from home and fees are $120 per day.

Am considering using my R80 mono as a track bike rather than a cafe racer.

Any thoughts apart from "stop it you'll go blind" :D

if you look at the Hot Airheads thread, my posts in the recent pages the white bike has been used as a road racer

It's an 81 R100RT frame with ohlins shocks and the front rebuilt etc etc 15mm master cyl with braided lines on the front (Brilliant Brakes)

Engine stuff is secret :thumb

Gearbox was a Siebenrock Long 5th

Exhausts are cut down Breakwell and Green (that sounded beautiful on her when I had her)

Problems are@-

Ground clearance thru the twisties and torque effect leaving the corners

Turning in without the frame tying itseld in knots!

I think If it were me I'd be going for a Mono front end and some frame strengthening at the headstock and I don;t know about the Diagonal frame braces Proff will be along shortly to advise on them I'm sure now someone has asked :aidan
