RAF Grove - funny old place.

scratching me head here trying to figure out how you do that.....

i have absolutely no interest in "Militaria" of any kind.

or so i thought until you started doing these engrossing write ups bringing to life an important aspect of history with beautiful photos taken with a fine eye for detail.

Thank you very much for opening my eyes and Well done! :clap :clap :clap

Yer a kind man, Og. It's comments like that that make it all the more worth doing :thumb Really appreciate that!

Just read this. Fabulous. I'm facinated by this kind of material and appreciate you taking the time to enlighten us.
I must look for more. Particularly the RAF side of things. I've visited a few when on hol down south, limited up in central Scot.
Well done again.:thumb2

Thank you! I've always enjoyed exploring these old places, so full of history. Time to get the camera out again I think...

:D

Just caught up with this - brilliant!
My father's a noise in a couple of the airfield preservation societies down in the New Forest. I love walking around them - particularly where the control Tower still exists such as the one at Ibsley. Ghostly, and wonderful.

very interesting!

Thanks MMC - very interesting write up!

Just stumbled across your post - I work on the Technology Park on the site of RAF Grove and was just talking to someone else who works here about the history and thought I'd try and find out more.

For such and important place during the war, I am surprised that there isn't more here that remembers and commemorates what happened here.

I have to admit, I've worked here for 7 years now, and never explored the site - but seeing your pictures I'm now intrigued...

Well done again, and thanks for the inspiration!

Bit about being retired that I really miss was getting to snoop around old, deserted, and unused airfields ,country houses. hospitals, asylums, industrial sites ,docks etc plus a few operational army sites during training exercises
