Raidbox? anyone used one?

I have the Twalcom product - takes a slime compressor, stop'n Go kit, a few tools, tape, tie wraps, spare bulb etc. It saves having to carry the panniers on the bike all the time. Its generally waterproof although a bit will get in via the door if you deliberately point a hose at it - I keep a cloth in there just in case. It can be a bit fiddly getting the door on and off but its no real issue as you won't need things that often. I prefer the dark ABS type to the S/S jobbie which is a bit too blingy for my taste :D

Have the GS Emotion one with pretty much all the above in. Bit fiddly to get in and out of too but once mastered, no bother. Not noticed anything getting wet or damp and it's been through all weathers.

Raid box

I have the black plastic type supplied by Rugged Roads. I use it to carry puncture repair kit, rags, black tape, etc. To date has been fully water proof. If you go for one of these they are identical to the Twalcom version but are about £40 cheaper from Rugged Roads.

Hi ihave a twalcom its ok but would have contacted mr Hootson of this parish for one of his boxes if it had been available at the time of purchase.

I have the Twalcom ABS Raidbox which houses my electric pump, Stop n Go Tyre Plugger, Disc lock and 2 breathylisers.
Fitted about 3000 miles included a very wet ride in Pyrenees and so far no problems or damp inside.
Safe riding,
Mike

Cheers for your order Rob - :thumb2

Just to clear up any confusion on these.

The Raidbox that we sell at Rugged Roads is exactly the same as the Twalcom one - we buy them direct from the same manufacturer that Twalcom does.:D

The only difference is that you get a Rugged Roads sticker with ours :clap

I had the GS Emotion box. Unfortunately, I ended up not liking it and took it off...
- I found the door fiddle to open and difficult to put items in.
- it routinely took in water
- it was hitting my mud guard. No serious damage, but consistently.

I eventually had te bike lowered a bit (Wilber's WESA) and so I just took it off out of fear.

If I had it to do over again, I'd get the unit made and sold by the maker on this forum (Mr Hooton?). It has the advantage of side door opening, which I see as a real advantage.

Hi I've got the GSemotion box
had it on 2 GSAs now...
only water ingress after power washing
not had any issues with contact with the splashguard - two up or solo
handy for throwing the disk lock in when the panniers are not on the bike

To me it seems to sit higher than the Twalcom - I'm sure theres a recommendation with the Twalcom to remove the splashguard & this was why I went in the opposite direction

Hi,
I bought the twalcom Raidbox ... planning to buy some glass things to build a real aquarium from it ...

sorry but mine is only watertight from the inside out .. which means it gets a lot of water in, but doen´t let it out again. It alreday ruined a whole bunch of my expensive german tools ( :-)) ...

I e-mailed with a guy who seams the be the dealer for twalcom in germany. He told me that her are two hinges wher to put the "door" in and I should use the outer one ... mine has only one of these things ??? so if anybody has an idea ...

When I saw the twalcom box first I thought wow what a good idea .. you don´t have to put the alu pannier down to get to your tools ... etc

But....The "entrance" of the box is very narrow and the edges are kind of sharp .. so you get scratches when you try to et the tools out.
And the closing mechanism is made very cheap.
If it would keep my tools dry i would be happy ...
