Raised SatNav Mount

Wunderlich also has a specific GPS relocation solution, different from moto-mate: wunderlich rs1300 gps relocation
Have you fitted the Wunderlich part? It does not include the lead and it appears to tell you you need a lead
BMW (61125B4E229 I’m curious to know if is a replacement ( longer lead ) or an extension for the original.I have the moto-mate fitted to my RS. I extended the original lead to re locate the mount rather than take the bike to bits. The mount in my user opinion isn’t at the best angle and depending on the road ( possibly engine vibration) it does vibrate. The location is much better than the original but it could be better.

Well, when checking the Moto-mate mount, I indeed found out that the 'angle' is not perfect for my existing BMW cardle mount.
So I returned the mount to Hornig, and ordered the Wunderlich instead, on which you can easily change the mounting angle.

For the vibrations, the wunderlich is also mounted to the windscreen, so I assume it will be same 'vibration' behaviour as for the moto-mate, but will let you know when installed.
I expect delivery of the Wunderlich GPS mount in 2 weeks, so the installatin will be done by end of this month.
I am going to 'extend' the existing cable by myself, just like you did, I even don't think that the cable they proposed is longer than the current cable.

Thanks. I’ll look forward to reading your opinion on the Wunderlich mount.

Grazie.

Hi,

I finished installing the dedicated Wunderlich GPS mount.
Here are the installation pictures:

Note that the gps mount is connected to the windscreen, so when you position your windscreen in upper stand, the gps mount will also move upwards with the windscreen: so the cable needs to provide that 'flex'
I do see vibrations on the gps device when you are not riding, but other than that it is okay.

I bought the original BMW OEM cable, so that I only had to cut the existing cable, and do 1 connection instead of 2 connections

You do not need to remove the fearing, only the right inner trim.

All in all pleased with the results

Quale plexiglass hai montato?

I have the original touring screen from BMW, and it does not interfere with the GPS mount.
You can install this GPS mount in 2 positions, either use the upper screws or the lower screws of the original screen bolts.

Thanks both of you for your input. I’ve ordered the mount and will see if it an improvement. The mount I have is not at the correct angle and does vibrate quite a bit. Hopefully it will be an improvement
