Was in Prestige this afternoon and tried the Rally Suit on - will be needing something for the Off road course soon as well as a (possible) Morocco trip- I've seen some recent posts suggesting they're crap - any other opinions....?

How much is the combined suit? Something like £650?
Think about buying one of those armour undersuits, like wot Fanum and a few of the boys have,
cross_shirt.jpg

knee (& maybe hip) armour,
a motorcross jacket & trousers
and save loads (& loads) of dosh..............

You also then won't mind if you notice a platiscky melting smell as you bend down to check something on your front wheel whilst in Maroc, and realise you've melted part of the jacket cuff

(which aquasure fixes :thumb)

I got one in March been using it every day since (4 to 500 miles each week) can't complain, does what it says on the box... so to speak . Warm when its cold, dry when its wet and it certainly keeps you cool with all the vents unzipped, Specialy in this hot spell. which I spose bodes well for your Morroco trip.

:beerjug:

Well I bought the suit this afternoon from Prestige...looks good and feels good on...will be trying it out on the off-road course in Wales next week...

Don't forget to give it a rub on the grass first, if you turn up all shiny and new you'll look a right pratt :D

I'll have to get Fanum to take me out on one of his Kent off=road adventures first...:D

I bought a rallye 2 suit this week as well but from South London Motorcycles at Caterham.
Haggled a bit and got a good discount and pair of gloves as well.
 Happy so far especially with cooling vents
Two minor things - the toggle fell off the main jacket zip - replaced for nowt by dealer; and the armour in the knees made the said knees sore on first two rides. Adjusted position of armour in trousers (velcro pocket) now absolutely great.
Still look a real pratt but very happy apart from fact got credit card bill for it. If had bought it a day later would not have had to pay for it for over two months.

I've got one and it's bloomin fantastic. If in doubt, just ask why so many KTM riders were wearing them at the Dakar this year!!!

Are there any similar alternatives that don't cost an arm and a leg, so to speak? I know you get what you pay for but £600 - £700 for jacket & trousers is a bit steep!

After a 2000 mile trip around Germany in extreme heat, p*****g rain , I have to say this suit is the best single-option compromise I've used. Not cheap mind you...

try looking at hein gericke tuareg gear first i compaired this with the bmw gear before buying and tou are looking at saving £300ish for pretty simular stuff. I have worn the tuareg gear through sleet and snow and the recent hot weather and due to the layering adjustment have remained comfortable, and the armour isnt intrusive. Good tip too for freezing temperatures snugpac softy jackets less bulky than fleece so fit under outer jacket well and made like a synthetic sleeping bag so bloody warm too.

ive got one, 12000 miles and its fine, only thing i dont like is that the jacket itsself is not waterproof, and gets soaked in the rain, but u stay dry under the goretex,,,,,,,, I'd buy another.......:D

If you've got £660 to spare on bike clothing then go for it . I check on ebay every couple of days and bagged some rallye 2 trousers for £100 and a jacket for £160 and in mint cond .

Just as I thought, too many of you have too much money! I spoke to a very nice couple in SPC who had just spent £1800 on two open face mesh helmets & various vented clothing.
I make do with my bargain £40 Seattle jacket worn twice by the previous owner. It is a nice piece of kit compared to my Hein Gericke jacket, which I had thought to be excellent/
At the end of the day, we all buy what we can afford.

wandered into HG in Farborough yestterday and came out with the Goretex Tuareg suit.
Had to test it in the rain and first impressions are pretty favourable. Dunno how I'll cope with a down pour in the hot weather though. Do you fit the gore tex liners or carry an oversuit?
