Rallye Jacket: Anyone tried using the inner armour carrying jacket by itself?

Here's my thinking:

I'm doing another BMW off road course in October. Last time I wore my Rallye 2 Pro jacket, and even with all the vents open I worked up a sweat. I understand that the inner jacket contains all the armour, and zips out. I have this idea that perhaps the inner jacket could be worn with a motocross style jersey over the top. I don't know how the jacket would join across the front. When I get some time I'll take it out and have a look.

Has anyone tried something similar?

No, you can't zip the two sides together. The inner protection jacket has two zips, a bottom one and the main one which starts at one side and goes right round the back of the jacket to the other side.
