Rallye Sport - Regular or Sport suspension?

A load of bollucks.......it's a GS with Adv suspension, Adventures are pretty useful on road, the more stiffly sprung suspension and self levelling esa offer a great ride and squat and dive are less apparent than usual, my take is it's a package that is better than the sum of its parts might suggest.
When scanning magazine articles I have found it useful to read between the lines ;)

Spot on. :thumb

People are quick to believe everything they read in bike mags sometimes. :blast

Stick with the standard suspension. RiDE magazine has a review in this month on the Rallye and even the BMW off road expert says the sports suspension is for off road experts only the standard suspension is good enough for road and most off road work. The BMW off raod school in wales will have there Rallyes fitted with standard suspension because they don't see the need for the sports suspension version

I'm in France at the moment (I think!), and the sport suspension on the back roads is sublime. Stick it in road mode if it's a bit bumpy, and it soaks all the bumps up. Then switch to dynamic on smooth roads, and the handling is as good as you'll ever need.

Brill. Mine does that too on the non-sport suspension saving me £250 You've got me curious now though.......

Sounds like the only difference is the sport suspension is a bit higher, and firmer. I like it, and for me, it's perfect.:beerjug:

I have had a run on both. Standard esa sport rallye and sport rallye with the +20mm sports suspension.

Both bikes ride, handle the same across all modes. Would say the +20mm suspension would only come in to its own at real off road riding and would benefit those who do it.

My understanding is that the Sport Suspension is available from May and until that date the adventure suspension is being supplied.

Who on earth told you that?!

Totally agree mate. My new Rallye is my 4th GS and the best by far. Had my doubts about the Sports Suspension at first as you no, but its awesome. I have no regrets at all.

With the Anakee Wilds fitted, I find dynamic mode best suits the bike with these fitted.

Test ring the rallye tomorrow, looking forward to it .not sure if it will have sports suspension ,but I will be getting the required info on what's hot and what's not .

Don't rely on your dealer to tell you, as half haven't got a bloody clue about the sports suspension. Like many on here that haven't actually ridden one.:augie

so ...I rode the Rally. Enjoyed the bike, pulls away nice and fast, handled well ...I did not get into any Tech with the sales guy ,as you all mention they only want to tell you what you want to hear ...

So How do I know if this is Sports suspension ? Its a rallye sport model, with Dynamic pack . it has two ride modes on the button, road and Dyna. The shock had dyna auto, min or max when held down ....is this a sports suspension bike or std ??

I also noticed theres a choice of single seat and dual seal .This had the dual the seat height was perfect.im thinking the single seat is higher ,and not as comfortable !

300 miles on mine today, with Sport suspension. No problems at all, but the seat is a bit of a plank. I'd get a comfort seat for long trips away, but most of the time the high Rallye seat is fine.

yes, the single seat does look a bit uncomfortable compared to the two seat version.

Spoke to a mechanic/Tech at the showroom, who I have know a few years. He said the bike i was on had the new sports suspension. when left in auto it just adjusts itself and you do not feel the bike raising or the front dipping heavy under braking. this new version of the ESA ,is now the std feature of the GS range. It is also on any lowered model, where as on the older suspension , you could no have a lowered model with any type of ESA.

I think you'll find that's not the sports suspension but the 2nd gen dynamic esa
