I fill the tank up at the beginning of my work week and ride 324 miles over the course of six days. Range normally shows me 1 to 4 miles left at the end of the week when I role onto the petrol forecourt.

I then fill it up and every time I discover there’s at least 2 liters if nor more left in the tank. Could only get 27 litres in today. Range showing 1 mile and 0% on BMW connected App the same on the bike.

Between 2 to 3 litres left in the bike?

Surely the fuel range is about 20 miles out?

Can it be calibrated?

Effectively that's your reserve

Surely that is a good thing as it is being conservative, I wouldn't worry if it was me.

On my 2015 model when the counter got to 0 it was well and truely empty and you’d squeeze 30 litres in it.

All tanks are designed to still have a small amount left for safety/convenience when the gauge reads zero - otherwise there would be an outcry when lots of people ran out of fuel if it was even 1mile out accuracy wise at the very bottom on the tank. It would be really bad practice to run your bike to actual empty which could vary by simply being on a long bend or up/down a steep hill when you run out of fuel and lose power.

It appears that the buffer has been increased from my 2015 to the 2018 then for probably that reason.
