Rattle Rattle...

Can anyone help with likely source of rattles on 2002 1150?

Starting from cold bike is quiet as normal with a Gs but after running for about a minute or so the engine develops a loud rattle which appears to come from front of engine.
This dissapears after another minute or so and doesn't return till the next cold start..
The bike has 22000 miles on and has done it since new so I am sure it's nothing terminal.
I would like to know what it is to give an explanation to others who think it's a diesel...

It could be the flap in a throttle body rattling.
The best way I have found to identify where a noise is coming from is to use a screwdriver as a stethoscope. Put the blunt end against your ear and move the point around the outside of the engine casing until the noise matches the rattle.

Hi am knew to the 1150 gs bought mine only a couple of days ago it has done only 4000 miles and it to rattles from the front of the engine and again once warm all seems fine might take it back to the bmw garage and let them have a listen suspect its just noisy waiting for oil pressure to build up will let you know what bm say cheers
