Left cam chain rattle

Tbh you’ve gave me a bit of a head wobble
The reason I brought it was price condition and I wanted a older hammer and chisel experience when riding
It gives me all the above in spades
It’s stunning to ride handles better that it should and I always come home smiling
All my Japanese stuff worth a hell of a lot more I’m walking past to either mess with or ride the gs
So lm not touching it for a week I’m just going to ride it
As you said that’s why we buy them👍

I am not a big cleaner or a maintenance mitherer and my GS especially, is just for using...👍 I love it as I have three of my previous 11GSs, but this one stays...🤣 They'll never be perfect in some areas and will always be a bit of a tractor next to Japanese of later BMs but they are a near perfect balance of things you need for most of your riding...👍

Sorry for the late entry to thread. I need to upgrade my R1100GS left cam chain tensioner.

Looking at the Chris Harris and other Youtubes, it looks simple enough, only the telescopic magnet needed to fish the old piston out always seems to be either with a hinge at the end or very narrow to access deep inside.

In prepratation for job, can anybody inform if a standard 20mm wide headed telescopic magnet will do the job?

I use long thin needle nose pliars - insert so the pliars are inside the piston, open pliars so they’re gripping inside piston, and pull piston out .,
