Just got back from a 3500 mile european trip, the GSA was fantastic two up with camping gear and never missed a beat. However when accelerating quite hard from around 3 to 4 thousand rpm in a higher gear there is a loud rattle ( sounds like its coming from the left hand pot) for a few seconds then disappears. Also used about 1/2 litre of oil during the trip, most seemed to be on days when climbing, switchbacks and low speed low gear riding in the alps. The bike has now done 33k. Ideas gratefully received, also looking for a y piece and remus can...

Cheers

Like Steptoe sez, could well be pinking. My 1100 does this occasionally two up if I give it a handful from lowish revs. Next time I have the alternator belt off, I'll retard the ignition timing a touch.

Can be caused by a lean mixture or over advanced ignition timing (or even the wrong spark plugs). Have you recently changed the hall sensor?

Not changed anything except fluids and battery before the trip, just coming up to 36,000 mile service now though so may send it in for that one. or just change it for an orange 1190:nenau

Your call but 1/2 litre of oil in 3500 miles is nothing - my mates new 1200 uses more than that.

But if you're dead set on changing let me be the first to offer you £500 :thumb
