Does anyone else experience quite a rattle noise coming from the clock area of their 1200? I noticed today that going over any kind of bump in the road sounds like I am carrying a bag of spanners in the front. I've checked for anything loose but nothing obvious.

Is this normal or should I investigate further? My 1150 certainly didn't make that kind of noise.

Thanks

This is usually caused by looseness at the front windshield pivot points. Sometimes the little bolts that go into the pivots through the windshield from the front have backed out some. If you snug them down, be careful; very little torque is required. The other thing you can do is put little o-rings on the pivots in between the pivots and the steel holder that they go into.

the only time I've noticed anything like that the screen knobs have been loose. But you say you've checked for loose stuff so :nenau

Thanks guys, I'll check the screen again. It looked ok to me but maybe I missed it

well, the front pivot points for the screen are now given a small 'o' ring between the nut and the mount points.

I'll try to get a pic up. Rattling was a problem when i first got the bike but solved after the green lane meister (aka Clive) gave me the 'o' rings.

I believe the clocks are rubber mounted to cope with vibration and jolts - mine rattle a bit too but they are designed to do so

Check your clutch and brake cables for clearence.
I had a very bad rev rattle and finaly found the handguard was resting on the clutch cable, moved it, no more rattles. Always had a humming windscreen.
