My front discs on my non servo R1150GSA have started rattling and I can feel there is a small amount of play by hand.

Question is:
Can I get away with just replacing the sprung washers or do I need to change the bobbins and mounting screws as well?

Have you tried just tightening the bolts?

I take the discs of my GS regularly to clean the mount points as I find they corrode and make the lever pulse as if the discs are warped.
The washers on my mounting bolts may or may not be spring washers. If they are they definately have no spring left in them.

Regards

Fit new sprung washers and turn the bobbins through 90 degrees. If you leave it rattling too long the holes in the discs will wear oval.

Just replace the spring washers. If you can obtain any.

If they've had play for a while you may have flat spots on the inserts/spacers, in which case they'll also need replacing.

You can buy a kit with the bolts, spacers and washers.

The play hasn't been around for too long and there is no sign of oval wear on the rings so I'm going to replace just the washers and see if that helps.

For reference motorworks sell just the washers and the fasteners separately.

Whatever you do - do it quick. I went away on the bike and didn't have a chance to do anything about them when they started rattling. By the time I got back the disks had worn away about 0.5mm of the posts on the wheel. It just leaves a raised oval shape on the posts. I've filed all the posts level and put wavy washers on the inside AND outside of the disk but I really need a new wheel.... so don't delay:thumb2
