Mmm they do a 100 piece accessory kit which would appear to include "flappers"..... lots of fiddly bits to flap though...

It's okay: I always cover me drink when I'm working in the garage...

Okay - Got me multi-tool whizzy thing, primer and top-coat from Halford's....

Whizzed off the corrosion using the supplied brass wire-brush attachment...

........and applied the primer....

It's more pink than I'd imagined....

Left that to dry..... and seeing as it's in bits....

.....thought I'd give the cover a wash.....

.....now, where's me beer.......

I do.
It was never intended as a "concourse" job... I just want to stop the corrossion and as long as it passes the "blind man on a gallopping horse" test, I'll be content....

mmm pity i didnt see this before as i would have said make sure that you use an etch primer as its designed for aluminium.

Not being funny, it might be the way the pictures have come out, but have you used 'Hammerite'rather than 'Smoothite'?

Q as not lookedat mine TBH - the 2 cut outs on the cover are the edges UN painted - looks like it in the photos - is so then thats why its corroding

The finish looks Hammeritey because the casing was so badly pitted behind the foam..

Looked like this.....

....and with the cover back on and some stainless (ACF50'd) allen bolts...

It's barely noticeable......
