On a much lighter note than of recent in my posts ;)

Looking at some of my old slides and stumbled on these and thought you'd like to see (apologies for poor quality, they are 27 years old :eek:and taken from grandstand on opposite side of track.

Place - Bol D'or.

Year 1985

Bike winning BMW Paris Dakar racer

Rider Gaston Rahier (man God!) small in stature only!

Back then it was my first vist, as pillion on a freind's brothers bike. Said friend is a recent convert to the site - hello John ;)

I was unaware of the GS at that time, in fact I bought John's R80/7 in 87 and that was me on the BMW path, still have it.

Anyway these are the pics - hopefully john may dig out some of his which would be great as he was trackside having started his photo journalism with a forged letter and a convincing chat to the press at Ricard allowing him a pass :D
