On a standard GS, what sort of range are people getting before the fuel light comes on ?
I read lots about 200 mile range being easy etc, but only manage about 180 (ish) before the fuel light on mine. Is that about right ?
Is the 200 mile plus for the Adventure ......

id say about 180 every day riding and iv had about 220 motorway from my gs tank

My GSA with 30 litre tank does around 230 miles before light comes on.

Equates to approx. 50mpg but its got lower 6th gear than standard GS.:thumb

Rough guide is 10 miles per lt.

23 lt tank with a reserve range from when the light comes on of 40 miles suggests you should be getting c180/190 miles before the light comes on.

200 miles is easily achievable if you know that once past 200 you are near fuel

Do people not reset trips and do there own maths nowadays :D

Standard tank I get 200-210 before light comes on and that's not riding like miss daisy.
I did push it to 250 but I had everything crossed the last few miles to the fuel station.

23 litre tank approx 180/190 riding locally before the light comes on , when touring make it about 210/220 before the light comes on

Adventure tank used to give about 270/280 around the doors and about 310 whilst touring

I've an Adv tank fitted to a standard GS and the way you ride can have a massive impact on mileage. I've had 300 miles from a tank and I've also run it dry in 165 - literally outside the petrol station so I had to push it into the forecourt. Same tank and same petrol but very different rides...

A few years back I went on a couple of European tours with a mate of mine. We were both on an 1150GS and equally loaded.

My fuel warning light would come on at about 180-190 miles, about 20 mikes before his. At the petrol station we had both used a similar amount of fuel and we rarely had to put in more than 18ltrs, so we both had plenty left

I don't think the 1150 fuel warning light are accurately calibrated between on bike and another.

With regard to the fuel light coming in, I think Mike is right. That part isn't well defined. So will vary.

It's not much help for the op I guess, but on my GSA, with luggage on tour I seem to get around 320-25 miles per tank (mile count after that and I'm in trouble!). Around town I count about 250-270. Big difference.

So today I filled up with 18 litres after the fuel light had just come on and got 165 miles out of it before it came on again. That would suggest that the remaining 5 litres would get me up to 200 miles easily enough. And that was with plenty of spirited riding.
