Hi

Got to work today and found it difficult to reverse the bike into a space - also noticed a smell of hot brakes.

The rear disc was sizzling hot and is obviously binding - no noticeable change in brake performance during the ride.

I've got hardly any tools here (if any, looking around) - is there anything obvious to try to free it up?

Many thanks

Sounds like the piston walls are crudded up - wait until the caliper has cooled, then grasp with both hands and waggle back 'n forwards energetically - should retract the pistons sufficiently to get you home - and try to avoid using that brake till it's fixed!!

Put your foot against the caliper and push it towards the wheel.

The caliper will slide on it's pins and the the pads will spread apart.

Thanks guys - will do that before I leave.

Steptoe - I'm going to be calling you later btw.
