The rear brake has been sticking and the pads are shot, the fluid looks discolured too.
I was about to try to put new fluid into the system by the trusted age old method of just opening the bleed valve with a one way valve attached and pushing the old fluid out by using the pedal and making sure the reservoir was kept topped up with new fluid.
A quick search reveals a rather more complicated method but all the videos I watch are pre LC GSs.
Can anyone enlighten me as to the correct method of replacing the rear brake fluid on the LC GS.

Make sure to free off the pads if they are sticking they may have overheated hence the discoulerd fluid. JJH

I'm glad you're practicing all these maintenance procedures on your own steed before working on mine :clap

You can just suck it out with an oil extractor, cheap syringe, or a mityvac which i use,
Put the bleed pipe on the nipple , create a vacuum, loosen it slightly and watch the level doesnt get too low in the reservoir,,,, less chance of an air lock without pumping the lever,
I usually remove the fluid in the reservoir first and re fill with fresh before bleeding,
The wheel circuits shouldnt cause issues with the abs, if done carefully ,,,,it also works on the fronts,
The abs pump flush needs a gs 911 or dealer tool,

There are many choices on pads,
I use ebc with good results, the newer gs uses sintered front and rear,
Good luck with the fluid flush,

On two of my bikes the rear brake seized at the pivot point causing the brakes to bind and the rear brake light stayed on. Simple fix take apart and re-grease.
