Guys I have a 2006 R1200GS with power assisted brakes. (ABS)

I have booked my bike into Rainbow but they have a 3 weeks waiting list so having to wait to get it looked at.

The problem I have is that on some occasions the the back brake will not release and I get the warning lights on the dash.

This happens when I turn the ignition on and when it goes through the self test it fails.
Other times the bike works fine with no issues.

This has not happened while riding only after turning the key.

I have cleaned the real caliper and replaced the pads.
The disk does not look warped.

This never locks the front only the rear.

Anyone else had problems like this?

Look forward to your replies and knowing my luck expensive ones.

Would suggest that the problem is likely to be the rear brake pedal pivot seized.
Easy enough to check. Just press down on rear brake pedal. lift toe off, and see does brake pedal
stick down. Pulling up with hand will confirm problem and clear fault.

Double check that there is no road debris stopping the pedal returning to it's proper position. If it doesn't, the brake light switch might be on or the master cylinder might still be pressurised.

As you gently press down on the pedal , check the rear brake switch clicks at about the same time as the master cylinder pushrod makes contact, and that there is the proper clearance when the pedal is released.......

- Check the pedal height. The pedal stop bolt should be about 11mm above its mounting bracket.
- Pushrod clearance. Also there should be 2-3mm clearance at the stop bolt just as the master cylinder pushrod makes contact.

All looks good at the back I have cleaned all the brakes and made sure all is clean by the push rod.
I have come to start the bike today and got no errors, but will have to ride it to see what happens.

But it has done this before so im still expecting to have to take it to Rainbow.

Question... If I am having only this issue with the back brake, does this rule out problems with the ABS pump as the front works fine and I know this is a major cost to replace?
